Section 76: Persatuan Hokkien Eng Choon Har Leng M’sia
The clan association holds multiple events every year for the benefit of its members, Family activities for members' children and members' parents, such as awarding incentive money to members' children who performed well in their studies, celebrating the graduation of members' children from university, presenting gifts of filial piety to members and their parents who are over 70 years old, and celebrating the achievements of clan members who have been recognized for their accomplishments. The clan association actively responds to the activities of the national association.
The family association organized group trips to Yongchun, Fujian for family visits, ancestor worship, and tourism in 2011, 2012, and 2018. In 2019, a total of 288 members of the family association embarked on a grand journey to Yongchun Putou Village to participate in the once-in-a-century Fujian Yongchun Xuliu Clan Genealogy Restoration Ceremony and Tourism.
The family clan annual celebration is held alternately in Bahau and Muar, and members of the three main associations are invited to attend. The number of attendees has grown from around 20 in the early days to 60 or 70 from various regions including clans members, and community leaders, making the family clan proud.
Although the family clan is a national organization, its headquarters is located in Taman Sonam, Bahau.
In 1985, the members voted to change the name of the clan to "Malaysia Lim's Clan of Fujian Yong Chun Po Tou Xia Lin." At the time, the Registry of Societies required that there be members from at least five states before the name "Malaysia" could be used. After the vote, the clan's leaders worked tirelessly to recruit members from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Pahang, and Penang. After several months of effort, they succeeded in recruiting members from six states and a federal territory. The Registry of Societies approved the name change on April 22, 1986, and the clan became officially known as the "Malaysia Lim's Clan of Fujian Yong Chun Po Tou Xia Lin."
However, the name was very long, with 17 characters, making it inconvenient for filling out forms and writing checks. As a result, the council decided to shorten the name to "Malaysia Eng Choon Por Tau Lim's Clan," with the Malay name "PERSATUAN ENG CHOON POR TAU LIM MALAYSIA." In 2015, the members voted to change the name again, and the Registry of Societies approved the new name, "Malaysia Eng Choon Por Tau Lim's Clan," on February 29, 2016.
Since its establishment in 1982, the Malaysia Fujian Yongchun Putou Xialing Lin Clan Association has been led by the late honourable Lim Kok Tiong A.M.N. as the clan chief until 2004, when he handed over the reins to the current state assemblyman Lin Huiming, who became the second clan chief to date.
The clan association has been in existence for 39 years, with its membership increasing from just over 50 at the time of its establishment to 388 today. All of these achievement are the solidarity and collective effort of all the directors and clan members.
The Malaysia Lim's Clan of Fujian Yong Chun Po Tou Xia Lin was approved by the Registry of Societies in 1982 and registered as a clan organization. At that time, the clan was named the "Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, and Johor Fujian Yongchun Xialing Lin's Clan Association," with only about 50 members from these three states.
The founders of the clan were the late A.M.N. Lim Kok Tiong, Lim Kok Zu, Lim Jiok Kim from Negeri Sembilan, Lim Tiek Choo from Malacca, and Lim Tiek Kiam, Lim Lai Tau, and Lim Heng Ie from Johor. All of these pioneers have since passed away.
