Section 11: Pre-Police Volunteer Club
You will leave traces wherever you pass The original site of the Police Volunteer Team Club and the Bahau Sports Club is the current site of the current Bahau City Hall.
Over the many years, there were always one or two things that are deeply branded in the time tunnel. They could not be stripped away, no matter how they were washed by the wind and rain, and how they were mottled by the passing years.
According to the information provided by Cai Defu, after the surrender of the Japanese army in World War II in 1945, in order to protect the safety of the homeland, Bahau established the Police Volunteer Reserve (PVR) in 1948. It was a team of special police officers. It was also a supporting force of the Royal Malaysian Police Force. Ordinary citizens can volunteer to help the force, maintain the enforcement of the law and, organize their own patrols to maintain peace and security. PVR was mainly composed of: Ye Liashui (father of teacher Ye Rongfu), Li Baoxiang (father-in-law of Zhang Wanda), Lin Jiangshui (chairman of the local council) and so on. Ye Lishui was proficient in English, and he represented a bridge between Chinese and British officials.
In addition to maintaining public security, the security guards also address youth development issues such as truancy, unemployment, alcohol abuse, fights, gambling, and robbery. They play a supportive role by encouraging young people to cherish life, engage in enjoyable activities, expand their knowledge, cultivate character and well-being, and steer clear of a path towards crime.
The Police Club was the gathering point for the guards. After the guards have completed the assigned tasks, they could gather there, rest, and discuss. They could also exchange views, carry out recreational activities, etc.
